'Direct Measure of Income' Bill Introduced

A Bill introducing the new capacity to contribute (CTC) score yesterday will soon replace the long-standing SES score that has determined parental capacity to pay and in turn, federal government funding. A student's schooling resource standard of funding is reduced by this measure in non-government schools (but does not decrease separate loadings for disadvantage). It will bring a more accurate representation of parental income than previous methods and we understand that many AACS schools will benefit from the change. Direct Measure of Income (DMI) methodology as recommended by the National School Resourcing Board (NSRB) will be fully implemented by 2022. The Department of Education, Skills and Employment has now provided schools with their individual DMI scores, they have also published factsheets about the DMI which can be found on their website here
