Who Should Pay for Education?

  • Every child has a right to education supported by contribution from tax payers.

  • All parents should have the right to choose the nature, style and perspective of the education they want for their child.

  • The tension that exists between teacher unions, some government school supporters and governments over the funding of non-government schools should end. If the above two principles are acknowledged and a fair and transparent mechanism for funding is determined this divisive debate should diminish. The needs-based, sector-blind, and reasonably transparent Gonski 2.0 funding system has gone a long way to addressing these concerns.
