AACS in Parliament House

A Voice for Christian Education

AACS in Parliament House

It has been a busy week all round for political meetings in Parliament House this week. AACS Executive Officer Vanessa Cheng has met with over 20 MPs and Senators, including the federal Education Minister, Jason Clare MP (pictured middle below) along with Christian Schools Australia Public Policy Director Mark Spencer (pictured right below).

It was a productive meeting with Minister Clare which covered a wide range of topics, including why parents choose Christian Schools, the Cardus Education Survey, fair funding, initial teacher training and concerns with the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) inquiry.

Vanessa also met with Tasmanian Senator Hon. Jonathon Duniam who is very supportive of the right of parents to choose an authentica Christian educaiton for their children. He was particularly impressed with the National Poll results which show three out of four Australians support the right of a religious school to employ teachers and other staff who support the clearly stated values and beliefs of the school. Senator Duniam then spoke in support of Christian Schools in Parliament which you can read HERE.

We are very grateful to God for the meetings held so far this year with MP’s and Senators to put forward the case for Christian schools.
