Labor commitment on Religious Freedom welcomed

AACS welcomed the commitment given by Minister Chris Bowen MP gave at Tyndale Christian School this week that the Labor Party supports a bipartisan approach to religious freedom legislation and will not negotiate with The Greens to pass legislation. This is a significant commitment and AACS will continue to advocate for religious freedom legislation and the right of Christian schools to employ staff who share their faith.

We were very encouraged by the positive feedback we received from the Candidate forums hosted by our member schools. Along with the Hon. Chris Bowen, Minister for Climate Change and Energy at the Tyndale Christian School forum we were also privileged by the attendance of Ms Susan Templeman, Member for Macquarie at the Kuyper Christian School forum and Mr David Smith, Member for Bean at the Covenant Christian School forum, along with Candidates from the Coaltion, The Greens, One Nation, Family First and Independents.

These were bipartisan events that demonstrated our desire to engage with Candidates on a range of issues including: religious freedom, faith based schools, cost of living, gambling, the environment and persecuted religious minorities. Thank you Freedom for Faith for encouraging churches and schools to get involved with this fantastic initiative! Thank you also to other schools that offered to host Forums - we appreciate your efforts!
