NSW Law Reform Commission Launches Review of Anti-Discrimination Act

The NSW Law Reform Commission is currently reviewing the state’s Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. A new consultation paper has been released, asking for community feedback on how the law could be updated.

As part of the consultation process, the Commission is seeking feedback about to what degree religious organisations can maintain their identity and mission under future reforms. 

A key area of concern for Christian schools is around the exemptions for religious organisations which allow independent religious schools and institutions to operate according to their beliefs.

AACS will be making a submission on behalf of our members schools and will provide further advice in the coming weeks for schools to respond to the online survey. Submission close 15 August 2025.  Find out more HERE.
