AACS along with nine other prominent Australian organizations and experts, who advocate for children's welfare and family-friendly media, have provided a Position Statement to the review of the Commercial Television Industry Code of Practice (CTICP).
We wish to make sure that the review prioritises the safety and rights of family audiences, especially children, in Australia’s media landscape.
The letter asked for the protection of vulnerable viewers as free-to-air TV remains crucial for families in regions with limited or unaffordable internet access; warns of erosion of protections for children due to proposed changes, such as expanded M classification times and the need for clear viewer information so that viewers can make informed choices thus ensuring safe and accessible content for families.
