Back in November, the Queensland Human Rights Commission released a Discussion Paper outlining areas for reform in Queenland’s Anti-Discrimination Act. This review takes a wholesale look at the Act, but did specifically reference the exemptions relied upon by Christian schools and other religious bodies. AACS made a submission to the review, which you can view here.
Our submission argues that the free exercise of religion in the form of education at a Christian school cannot be considered discriminatory in line with international law. The report is due to be tabled in parliament later this year so stay tuned to our website and e-newsletters for updates. You can sign-up here.
