WA: Petition Launched to Protect Religious Freedom

A Parliamentary petition has been launched in Western Australia, calling on the State Government to protect religious freedom and uphold the rights of faith-based schools.

The petition follows proposed changes to the Equal Opportunity Act, which may weaken long-standing protections for Christian schools and other religious organisations to employ staff and shape community life in accordance with their faith, beliefs and values.

The petition calls for meaningful consultation with Christian communities and for Parliament to safeguard the freedoms that enable faith-based schools to remain genuinely faith-centred.

AACS encourages WA members and supporters to consider signing the petition and sharing it within their church and school networks to ensure these concerns are clearly heard by the Government.
